District 45/23
To: Head Coach:
If you are
interested in placing a team in Division One you need to complete the following
steps. This program is considered our
Fall Application Process as approved by review and recommendation of the
Campbell County Knothole Executive Committee, appointed by District Supervisor
Mike Combs.
Step
One: A complete roster MUST be submitted. The team application/roster for the league is
attached. This roster cannot be changed
or altered AFTER the application has been submitted. Please see the attached form. The Team Application must be made by October
1, 2009 for the 2010 Season.
Step
Two: Each player and parent must sign the Division
One Player Application Form and the form MUST be submitted with the Roster with
the Team Application. Due
October 1, 2009.
Step
Three: All Payments for the Division One program
MUST be made by October 1, 2009 for the 2010 Season. Payment due is the Campbell County Knothole
Division One Player Fee of $65.00.
Process: The Executive Committee will review the team
application and will advise the coach within 2 weeks of receipt of application
if the team is accepted to Division One.
If the application is approved, next steps will include mandatory
attendance to all league meetings, schedule guidelines, etc. If the application is denied, the players on
the roster have the option to return to teams, seek another Division One
Program or sign with another Campbell County Knothole team. All payments will be returned to the players
if the application is denied.
District 45/ 23 will only allow
“approved” teams in the Division One Program.
Why the
Change?
The past couple of years Division
One has been on the decline in attendance to coach
meetings, league meetings, etc. Division
One is suppose to be a “select/premier” baseball program. Many things have fallen short of that description
and it is the intention of District 23 to assure future Division One programs
understand and fulfill their obligations.
There is an expectation for support to Knothole from Division One teams. CCKnothole is making sure that expectation is
met.
Why the
Coach Application?
Perhaps the most asked question but
the easiest to answer. If District 45/23
is expected to allow select baseball programs develop within our district, it
is not unreasonable to review those who wish to take that step. If a coach is motivated and willing to “pick”
which players may be talented enough to play Division One, then it is not
unreasonable to expect the league to “pick” the most talented coaches for those
players.
Is it
really possible the application can be denied?
Absolutely! We will take into all accounts, the coach
background, and development of their current team, their rule knowledge and
involvement to the Knothole program. We
will deny those who have not been actively involved, tough on umpires and
league operations, unorganized operators of a team. Etc. Again, it goes back to the position of
Select: If you wish to select the
players, why shouldn’t the coaches be selected too?
Will it
be explained why an application was denied?
Only in general terms and those
committee members involved, each has significant prior and current involvement
with Campbell County Knothole will not be identified. It will NOT be a set committee but a constant
changing committee. Voting will be
private. The purpose of this is simple. We acknowledge the potential this could be
controversial to some coaches. No way
around that. But, by having a wall
around the process will allow the committee to act in the best interest in the
program vs. the pressure of direct politics, etc.
Why the
time deadline?
One of the main issues we have with
Division One is the real lack of planning to a team. Regular Knothole teams should not have to
deal with having a player, uniform ordered, etc. only to lose out to a last
minute opening of a Division One Player.
That is really unfair to the Knothole team. If a team is truly serious, getting this done
in the fall should be easy. If not,
maybe the team should not exist and frankly, with this deadline will not be
able to exist.

With
this application the player and parents acknowledge the commitment to
participation to the Division One Program for the 2010 Season, including all
financial obligations to Campbell County Knothole ($65 Player Fee). Further, the player and parents acknowledge
the ability to return to the regular Knothole league is only based on
availability to the league AFTER April 1, 2010.
In other words, your sign up with Division One will not allow you to
sign up during the January/February Sign Up period that guarantees team
placement in Regular Knothole League.
Please understand this before signing below.
If you have ANY questions regarding this it is strongly suggested to contact District Supervisor Mike Combs at 859-635-1080 or Associate District Supervisor, League President, John Rawe at 859-250-9351. Any representations made by any coach/manager may not be representing League Policy and Rules.
We acknowledge participation in youth sports, bad
decisions are made off of promises, expectations, etc. We will work within our ability to resolve
any issues, however we cannot guarantee resolutions after this application to
Division One is accepted and regular Knothole registration begins. Please think about this carefully!
Further, there will be a Liability/Registration
Form, in addition to this form that will be required to be completed prior to
the start of the season. Failure to
complete and submit that form will disqualify the player from league
participation.

Coach
Expectations from Campbell County Knothole
A Division One
Coach will be involved in the field maintenance and development of Pendery
Park.
A Division One
Coach will be involved in league operations and attendance is mandatory at
Coach Meetings.
A Division One
Coach will respect and coordinate their playing schedule to the Field
Coordinator for their games promptly.
This action is expected within a couple of days in receipt of the
Division One schedule.
A Division One
Coach will fulfill all the financial obligations to Campbell County Knothole
promptly and without reminder from Campbell County Knothole.
A Division One
Coach will maintain contact with all involved parties regarding games – from
Umpires to Field Requests. Follow Up
will be the buzzword.
NO LAST MINUTE
ASSUMPTIONS WILL BE MADE. Events occur
and changes can and probably be accommodated but such will NEVER be
guaranteed. Such acts, for instance,
last minute schedule of double-header, etc. will be the mistake of the coach
and no one else. NEVER assume the field
is open, the umpire is available, etc.
While the park may
be available at some times, the games may not be allowed to be played during
that time. Reasons from field maintenance,
concession coordination, umpire availability, etc. could factor into the
request for fields.
A Division One
Coach will acknowledge and understand certain events can and will occur. For instance a 2:00 game on Sunday could be
delayed to 3:00 on Sunday due to rain from Saturday and Saturday roll over
schedule. Campbell County Knothole is
not involved with the supposed “issues” this may cause your team. A Division One Coach will accept this as a
course of season development and action.
A Division One Coach
will know the Division One Rules, the Knothole Rules and Major League Baseball
Rules.
A Division One
Coach will be TOTALLY responsible for actions of players, parents and fans,
both within District 45/23 boundaries and outside the District 45/23 area.
AGREED:
